Nanotechnology is already found in hundreds of products that we use every day - sunscreens, cosmetics, clothing, paints, furniture varnishes, cleaning products, household appliances, 'health' supplements and more.
The federal government has predicted that next generation nanotechnology will transform every aspect of our lives.
Yet many Australians have had no opportunity to have a say in how public money is spent on nanotechnology research, or how the new industry should be governed.
There is no product labelling, or notification to people exposed to nanomaterials at work.
Why not contact the Industry Minister's office directly to express your support for precautionary management of nanotechnology risks, public involvement in nanotechnology decision making, and far greater transparency in how nanotechnology is used?

Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

Volunteer with us
Friends of the Earth Australia's Nanotechnology Project is a collective working for social and environmental justice. The project has existed since 2005 raising the ecological, social, economical and ethical issues surrounding nanotechnology both nationally and internationally. There are a number of ways that you can get involved to suit your interests, time and skills. We welcome new members, ideas, initiatives and projects. Please fill out the
volunteer form or just get in touch with us.
Volunteer/Intern opportunities
There are volunteer/intern opportunities in our campaign. The Nanotechnology Project relies on the generous work and support of volunteers and recognises volunteers are absolutely essential to the success of the organisation in working towards an environmentally sustainable and socially just future.
Volunteer opportunities are offered (e.g. organising communication materials for the campaign, tracking commercial use of products that contain nanoparticles, responding to enquiries and requests for information etc). We welcome people to come up with their own research or project ideas, and we are flexible.
Please fill out a volunteer form and tell us about yourself and your areas of interest.
